Account Configuration
To get started, you'll need an explanation of the basic process of
getting your Web site up and running. We'll assume that you have just
created a brand new Web hosting account and are ready to make your Web
presence known. |
-
Once your account is configured by us, you will get an email with your
account name and password. This process usually takes about 30
minutes. To test this, type the address given to you into your Web browser.
This is typically:
http://webservices.propagation.net/~youraccountname/
or
http://pagesforall.propagation.net/~youraccountname/
|
-
An active account will result in a
'Welcome' and under-construction page. If you feel that the account
is taking an unusually long time (more than 24 hours) to become active, please
contact us and we can help you out.
|
-
At this point you can begin to upload your files with an FTP client by
using the following setup:
Host Name:
pagesforall.propagation.net
UserID: youruserid
Password: yourpasswod
|
-
The domain name can take 3-5 days to propagate throughout the entire Internet. To test the domain,
simply type it into a Web browser and see if your account comes up.
In the meantime the account will only be
accessible via the URL address above. This will give you some time
to get a splash page up and running.
|
-
Once the domain name is functioning correctly, you may want to
visit the Control Panel for your account. This is where you can
configure your account settings such as e-mail, statistics, secure
server access, CGI scripts, and so forth. To reach the Control
Panel, type http://www.yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/monstercontrols/. Your
Control Panel contains everything you should need to tweak all of
your account options.
